sound of the sewers

I will reactivate the soundscape and work on some more sound tests.
The sound of the levels will be key in connecting the three main spaces in the location, particularly the sewer sounds emanating from below, the hammering and industrial clank of the GUTS MACHINE and the organic physical noises from the subterranean world - Charley the sewermans' bad stomach in particular.Let's just say it - at one point the loudest trump in the world breaks forth and rattles from the bowells of the earth to the high domes - a little like a collective raspberry blown and the great and good for their terpitude, clearing out the passageways and crevices between the worlds.
My job now is to find a sound object that can do that almighty fart justice - the underworld itself will always be dripping and squelching with waterwork blockages and log jams, gurgling down deeper to the subsonic movements of the earth's crust...
It's almost like a coarse manifestation of Daphne Oram's frequency oscillations connecting the unified music of the spheres.
Meeting at Neville Hall, July 21.

GUTS SOUNDSCAPE TEST

A GUTS soundscape test.

The TWELVE ACRE ORCHARD theme plays like a chapel of rest organ then is engulfed by sewer construction noises and GUTS MACHINE scraping...then the dripping sewer takes over followed by an urban interlude of beats, sirens and helicopters.Eventually the theme returns with a Roy Budd feel...

Phantasmagoria

I am very interested in Pre Cinema techniques particularly the effects of the Phantasmagoria, moving projections, mirrors and other reflection and light effects.
The PEPPER'S GHOST effect is one of my favourites. It uses a hidden plane of angled glass to reflect a carefully lit superimposition creating the effect of a 'manifestation'.
This would work very well in the Coal Cellars, as the Ghosts start to make their appearance.

Modern Ghost trains and Theme Park rides still use the Pepper's Ghost technique.

I was wondering what my 'role' was in this process - Hey, can I be the 'imagineer' !!
